Our mandate is to create a supportive environment for Persons Living with blood borne pathogens and to provide services and assistance, including:

  • Information and referrals
  • Hospital Visits
  • Counselling
  • Social Service Advocacy
  • Self-care Workshops
  • Financial Counselling
  • Health Maintenance
  • Nutrition Information
  • Accessing Health Services
  • Support groups for PWAs; their partners, families and friends

LPRC maintains a library of literature, videos and articles relating to blood borne pathogens. These are available to anyone wishing information. We also maintain a current list of health care professionals, both local and regional whose services are available to HIV/AIDS/hepatitis patients.




Important Facts

In BC, there has been a steady rise of new HIV infections in men who have sex with men, from 96 in 1999 to 130 in 2001. Canadian statistics follow the same trend.

Note: not all men who have sex with men identify themselves as gay or bisexual.
