Our mission statement says it best: The Living Positive Resource Centre will lower the incidence of new HIV infections and improve the quality of life for those infected or affected.
We have developed a number of different approaches to increase general awareness of HIV/AIDS in the communities we serve. Events and programs are designed to appeal to a wide range of audiences.

IF YOU ONLY DINE OUT ONCE IN MARCH...
Please do so on Thursday, March 25th, 2010. That is the date for our 6th Annual Dining Out for Life event, which sees local participating restaurants donate a minimum of 25% of food revenues from that day to support the work we do in the individual communities throughout the Okanagan Region. We are once again hoping to have restaurants from Penticton to Vernon participating – to see if your favorite restaurant is included go to www.diningoutforlife.com and click on the red ribbon for Okanagan Region.
A new addition to Dining Out for Life this year is our "Corporate Challenge". The Corporate Challenge matches participating restaurants with local businesses, who act as Restaurant Hosts. The role of the Restaurant Host is to invite staff, clients/customers, and family and friends to dine at the restaurant they are matched to in an effort to completely fill the restaurant on March 25th. All Restaurant Hosts receive recognition on our Dining Out for Life page and all pre and post event media promotion. It is a great opportunity for the corporate world to contribute to the community in a really positive way. If your company is interested in becoming a Restaurant Host, please contact Karen Alexander at 250-862-2437!
We are also still recruiting Volunteer Ambassadors for this event. The role of the Ambassador is to be on site at the restaurant during the event to answer questions about Dining Out for Life and the work Living Positive does, and to thank patrons for choosing to "Dine Out" on that particular evening. Full training and support will be provided by LPRC. If you are interested in becoming an Ambassador, or if you want further information about the event, please call us at 250-862-2437 in Kelowna, toll-free at 1-800-616-2437, or send us an email at dofl@lprc.ca!

Each year, Memorials take place in over 1,200 communities in more than 115 countries
The International AIDS Candlelight Memorial has four main objectives:
• To honor the memory of those lost to AIDS
• To show support for those living with HIV and AIDS
• To raise community awareness and decrease stigma related to HIV and AIDS
• To mobilize community involvement in the fight against HIV and AIDS
The theme for the 2010 Candlelight Memorial is "Many Lights for Human Rights" which is meant to promote both global solidarity and the need for collective action around HIV and human rights.
