LPRC's Speakers' Bureau is the best resource in the Okanagan Region for education about HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B and C (bloodborne pathogens). We give the facts on how to prevent bloodborne pathogens and what happens to people who are infected. We also strive to remove the stigma of bloodborne pathogens, so that people receive the compassionate and caring treatment they need. To book a "Speak" for your group, contact our Educator at 250 862-2437 or .
Speakers at LPRC are knowledgeable about all aspects of bloodborne pathogens. Some are people living with the diseases who can offer a personal perspective on the impact it has had on their lives.
Presentations are tailored to the needs and sensibilities of your group, be it school, service agency, church group, or employer. We can include a wide variety of audiovisual materials, and we always welcome questions. Those not comfortable asking questions in a group setting may wish to call the LPRC office for a confidential discussion.
As part of our commitment to the community, we participate in several Okanagan University College programs: Social Worker, Palliative Care and Nursing. Students are encouraged to volunteer with LPRC to gain real casework experience.
No one will be denied service based on their ability to make a contribution. However, donations are gratefully accepted.
LPRC's educational commitment:
- To provide the information necessary to prevent the spread of bloodborne pathogens in our community;
- To dispel the myths, stigma and misinformation associated with bloodborne pathogens, which foster the spread of the diseases;
- To promote compassion through understanding for those facing the challenge of bloodborne pathogens; their families and friends.
